New Year, New Website, New Look

Designarchy is proud to announce its new website showcasing the graphic design portfolio (with lots of updates) but containing much, much more! It's packed with “green” information, such as recycled paper, green notes, resources for clients, and biodiversity.

Designarchy has taken steps in 2005 towards more socially and environmentally responsible business practices. The new website reflects not just a passion for design, but also for our planet!

Green thinking can be more than the materials you choose, or the decisions you make. It can also have a component of social contribution. Designarchy is proud to have donated almost 100 hours to 3 organizations that promote the betterment of people, communities, animal welfare and the environment. These organizations are Dharma Publishing, Compassionate Cooks and McDonald Ranch. Read all about it here.

In 2006, Designarchy has plans to purchase refillable toner and ink cartridges, get powered by wind, and donate 1% of sales to animal organizations that promote animal welfare.

Before designing a project, get estimates from printers first. Often times, during the negotiations for cost reduction, printers will suggest a different trim size. For example, printing an 8.5" x 11" brochure will cost more than 8.5" x 10 7/8". It's only a 1/8" difference on the height, but depending on the quantity of your brochures, the savings could be in the thousands of dollars, and much less paper waste.

Most people don’t know that “virgin” paper production is the third largest generator of air toxins, waste and water polluntants in the world, and among the largest in energy and fresh water consumption. In contrast, one ton of recycled paper uses 64% less energy, 50% less water, produces 74% less air pollution, saves 17 trees, and creates 5 times more jobs than one ton of paper products from virgin wood pulp.
